Description of Service Provided

Working with the State Ministry of Commerce and Industry to Ensure Industries are Prepared Towards the Envisaged State of Trade Under the AfCFTA in 2021. This project will support the national adoption and operationalization of the AfCFTA, ratified and adopted by the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the 5 December 2020. Specifically, to start Nigeria Industries trading under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

 

The proposed project aims to contribute to NOTNs national mandate to maximize Nigeria’s gains from trade, specifically to:

– Resolve the existing coordination deficit in Nigeria’s trade policy and stop the associated costs to economic growth and impediments in implementing the economic and trade policy priorities of the government

-Achieve coherence in trade, fiscal, monetary, and foreign policies and, consequently, use trade policy and negotiations (as an instrument) to drive growth and provide policy space for Nigeria’s priorities for structural transformation to industrialize, diversify and modernize

The results of the project will provide vital information to key stakeholder’s state ministries of industry and commerce on the institutional framework and rules and regulations of the AfCFTA. In addition, the projects focus on improving the preparedness of State Ministries of Industry and Commerce will support coherence between the objectives of the AfCFTA and the priorities of State Ministries of Industry and Commerce therefore ensuring national adoption of the provisions of the Agreement.
